JCI Showcases Youth Entrepreneurship Solutions at the OECD Global Forum on Local Development 2026

Maastricht, Netherlands | 27-28 May 2026 – Junior Chamber International (JCI) participated in the OECD Global Forum on Local Development 2026, contributing to global discussions on entrepreneurship, trade, skills development and local economic growth through a dedicated side event focused on empowering young entrepreneurs to scale across borders.
Organized by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Forum brought together policymakers, business leaders, social entrepreneurs, local development practitioners and international organizations to explore how communities can strengthen local economies and create new opportunities for inclusive and sustainable growth.

As part of the Forum programme, JCI hosted the side event titled "From Local Action to Global Opportunity: Empowering Young Entrepreneurs to Scale Across Borders" on 27 May 2026. The session aligned with the Forum’s focus on enabling entrepreneurs and local businesses to access new markets and international opportunities.
Representing JCI was JCI Executive Vice President assigned to Europe Stefanie van der Sman, who hosted and led the interactive session, guiding discussions on how young entrepreneurs can transform local solutions into global opportunities. The session brought together entrepreneurs, policymakers and business leaders to exchange practical insights on scaling businesses internationally, navigating cross-border challenges and strengthening entrepreneurial leadership.
Supporting JCI’s engagement throughout the Forum was JCI Growth and Development Director for Europe, Ana Boisteanu, reinforcing JCI’s commitment to equipping young people with the leadership skills, networks and opportunities needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected economy.
The side event also featured contributions from OECD experts and members of the OECD Youthwise community, creating a dynamic exchange on entrepreneurship, innovation and international collaboration.
