The Youth Signal Survey: Turning Young People’s Voices into Evidence

Young people are navigating profound changes in work, technology, mental health, education and civic life. Yet decisions that shape their opportunities are often made based on assumptions about young people rather than evidence gathered directly from them.
The Youth Signal Survey is designed to change that.
From September 1st, young people everywhere have the opportunity to share their perspectives through the Youth Signal Survey, developed jointly by Junior Chamber International (JCI) and AIESEC, with the support of Project Everyone. The survey aims to bring together 30,000 voices from more than 100 countries and territories to better understand what young people need, value and expect from the future.
Why does The Youth Signal Survey matter?
The world is changing quickly, and young people are experiencing those changes firsthand. But their experiences and perspectives are not always reflected in the programmes, opportunities and resources designed for them. The Youth Signal Survey gives young people a direct opportunity to help change that.
The survey explores four areas that are central to young people’s lives and futures:
The future of work
Youth leadership
Mental health
Access to global networks
By sharing your experience and perspective, you are contributing to a global evidence base that can help organisations better understand what young people actually need.
What will happen with the responses?
Your responses will not simply remain in a database. The findings will be analysed and used to produce the Youth Signal Survey 2026 Research Report, which will be publicly available.
The research will help JCI, AIESEC and their partners understand:
How prepared young people feel for a changing world of work.
Whether education and leadership programmes reflect their actual needs.
What enables or prevents young people from taking on and succeeding in leadership roles.
How young people define leadership, influence and meaningful participation.
What support they need for their well-being and personal development.
Which barriers prevent them from accessing international opportunities and networks.
What institutions, employers and youth organisations need to do differently.
The findings can then be used to improve opportunities, learning materials, tools, support for public policies, networks and resources for young people.

The Youth Signal Survey is based on a simple principle: young people should have a meaningful role in shaping the decisions and opportunities that affect their lives. Rather than designing programmes for young people without them, this research puts their experiences, expectations and ideas at the centre. By taking the survey, you are contributing to a global picture of what young people think and need
